MY GIFT FOR YOU #1

What  is my best asset? What is an asset, anyway?

Those are the questions that distracted everyone's life because we don't actually know what an asset means. By asking everyone around me, I got many ideas and meanings of what it is. An asset is something that you have that you can be proud of. Something that a person is attracted to you because of this. Or something that became the reason why people are still around you.

Though I already have ideas of what an asset means,  I still asked them, "what is my best asset?" . Too many answers came from their mouth. Some answered my attitude; others my personality; and one said my talent in writing.

I love everyone's answer. However, there gonna be the best. I told myself, if I'll choose attitude or personality, it gonna be a very broad topic. Or if i'll choose my talent in writing; it is something that in need of improvement and practice in which I don't know if I can. So, I thought deeply. Then a realization came into my mind. I realize that many of my friends said that I have a cute smile and this is my best asset. I think they're right, my SMILE.

I count SMILE as my best asset because God had given this to me ever since I was in the womb of my mother. Because of this, I want to share to others what God had given to me.

What is a smile for you? Why do you smile?

For me, smile is the best thing that you could ever give to everyone, to your family, friends, professors or even to strangers. You don't know that because of your smile, you made everyone happy and cheered up especially those people who have problems and those who are sad. Remember that if you give smiles to others, their is no lose in your part. Instead, you gain something. Something like friendship.

It is unnatural for me to give my smiles to others before. However, when I learned that smile can give others life, I always smiled. A friend of mine told me that my smile is very innocent like a child and can cheer up others. That's why she loves me smiling.

I could still remember my newly met friends.  They were always worried of me because I was new to the environment.Every time they asked me if I'm ok, I answered with a smile, "yeah, I'm ok. :)"  Then, I found them relief in their side and mine too. When we had problems, I told them something with a smile, "it's gonna be ok. aja! :)" Then, they smiled back and they were cheered up. Because of the cheered spirits our sembreak was one of the best. After the sembreak, we made contacts with each other and until now, they were always by my side even they were very far away.

See how my simple smile made life cheered up?

Those are  the reasons why I can say that my best asset is my smile. I love to smile because they love me smiling.

"Always wear a smile not because life is full of reasons to smile but because your smile itself is a reason for others to be happy."

BASTA SK, SIKAT KAH!!

As a teenager, I have a concern over Sanguniang Kabataan (SK). I'm agree of aborting it but since it's still existing, I decided to make use of it.

Last October 25, 2010, Monday was the 5th SK election held in the Philippines. Before our sem break, I told myself not to support any banner from the running SK Chairpersons since I have friends in every team. The SK Chairperson who invited me first to be in her group was a friend of mine while the other one was not new to me but we were strangers.

I was very confused as the election was approaching. I wonder where I will give my favor to. However, three days before the election, with no doubt, I decided to be with the strangers. Well, not everyone was stranger to me because my cousins, my friends and my schoolmates were there. Unlike with the other team, there were only five youths that I know. And with these people who I know were not close to me nor were friends. They were just like the other persons I was acquainted to.

For personal reason, I gave my support to these so-called-strangers-before because a close friend of mine was running under her banner. For political reason, I don't actually knew. I just listened to them, gave my support, talked and campaigned with them.

Actually, I never thought that such teenagers who were ready and willing to serve their fellow youths existed.  Before I met the running councilors and the running chairpersons, I thought that for them, it was just for fun. However, I was wrong. Wherever I go, wherever I listen to, they have their own goals. But unfortunately,we have to choose who we want for the positions.

While I was with my newly met friends, I really enjoyed. Well, we did not stayed in our barangay for two days and three nights for a political reason. I was always accompanied by the running councilors and chairperson. Every minute was full of unexpected events. Some may found it boring but for me it was really an awesome experience. For your information, it was the first and I hope may not be the last time having fun with my neighborhoods.

Having the overnight was the best night in staying with my fellow youths. Because, that night I matured a little bit without expecting it. I can't still believe myself talking in front of every youth to convince them to vote my friends. Also, when the time approached 12 midnight and there were only few of us stayed awake having a scary and historical story telling. At that moment, I met a friend of mine who became special to me as the days pass. Also, that moment was very special to me for a very personal reason in which I won't tell anybody. hehe...

The election finally came. We went back to our beloved barangay for it.  I went home to change clothes and rest for a while. The time came for me to vote. I was escorted by my father to the school where the "votation" was held.

"What the..." I told myself. I was acting fine but I was very nervous deep inside while I was walking. The eyes of every  people was in me. I did not mind them. Actually, when I wrote my vote, I was very careless that I did not even covered what I was writing. Why I will if I know that it is my right to choose whoever I want.
Everybody maybe cared but I was not.

The best thing happened during the election was the counting of votes. I did not run for any position but since everyone became close to me, it made me felt very nervous too. I was not able to hold myself anymore that I hugged and cried to my councilor friend. With this emotion, it did affect the others too. It was totally a very dramatic moment. When the campaigner prayed, tears really fell down from our eyes. more and more tears.

tick..tack..tick..tack..The result finally came out. We won the game honestly and neatly. For me it was a double win for us. The SK chairperson and the seven SK councilors was ours. I was very glad for them.

For now, I am hoping that when the right time they will hold their position, they will do their very best because being in that position, during event and vacations; for the youths, they have their eyes to these leaders.

SEMI-COLLEGE LIFE

Why semi-college life? It is because the first sem of our first year in college seemed like a combination of college life and high school life.I never thought that it would be like that. I htought that everything you do will be all by yourself. However, I was wrong.

Our schedule was really for a college life but our friendship and bonding was like a high school life. Too many happenings and events that we will surely miss when we grow up.

I am very glad that I met my blockmates, the BLOCK 51 or commonly known as B51. At first, they are strangers that have diferent characteristics and who came from different schools and places. Then, later on, they became friends; different characteristics, different level of intellegence but only have ONE HEART.

B51 made us not a stranger to adjustment because  they made it easy especially for those who came from different places away from Iligan City. B51 showed us that every problem will be ok as long as everyone is around to help solving it.

I really thank God that He had given me friends who I can rely on.

Thank you BLOCK 51..
